Rubber Molded 3-Piece Penetrator System

Product Description

BIW Connector Systems Rubber Molded 3-Piece Penetrator System is a vulcanized elastomeric system, long recognized for superior performance. This design has been optimized for long life and utmost safety with approvals for hazardous locations under Class 1 Division 1, ATEX and IEC. 3-Piece systems offer the simplest installation and workover procedures. Our Rubber Molded 3-Piece Penetrator solutions are one of several technologies designed for safe, reliable and ease of use.

The Surface Connectors are supplied with coupling rings retained by ball bearings. This retention method ensures longer life, better resistance to corrosion, and easier engagement. For more information click here.

The Surface Connectors are also supplied with replaceable sealing elements. These new seals consist of
O-rings that are easily replaced with a special tool, making re-use both easy and safe. Click here for more information.

FAQs

Can BIW Connector Systems' connectors withstand flooding?

While the submersion of wellheads and wellhead electrical equipment is not desirable, BIW Connector Systems' connectors are designed to seal out water should the connectors become fully immersed in water. For optimal resistance of flooding, it is important that connectors are fully engaged at the time of installation. The Red Dot must be covered and the coupling ring must be tight.

Can BIW Connector Systems' products be re-used?

The highest reliability can only be attained by replacement of systems at time of work-over. However, it is common for operators to re-use Surface Connectors and Feedthrus, if these items are in good condition and have been thoroughly cleaned and tested. The repeated use of lower connectors is not recommended. BIW recommends that wellhead feedthrus and surface connectors should not be re-used more than three time or more than five years., whichever comes first.

Some BIW Connector Systems' connectors look similar to connectors from other sources. Is it permissible to intermate connectors from different manufacturers?

Connectors from different manufacturers must never be intermated. Manufacturers do not share dimensional and torance engineering data, and there is no assurance that proper sealing and proper electrical operation will occur when connectors from different sources are mated. In addition, approvals from third party agencies are invalid if connectors are not used with their proper mating item.
