Why use Electrical Feedthrus?
Electrical feedthrus are used to pass electrical energy through the pressure barriers of an oil well in a safe manner. Electrical feedthru systems are designed to have the same pressure ratings as wellheads, packers and pods. They prevent gases or fluids from escaping from the well through the electrical penetration. Many electrical feedthru systems have approvals from internationally recognized test laboratories, for installation in areas classified as hazardous zones.
Electrical feedthru systems reduce installation time. Feedthru systems can provide ease of installation. Three-piece systems provide the maximum convenience by allowing easy attachment and connection both below and above the wellhead or packer.
Where are Electrical Feedthrus used?
Wellheads
Electric feedthrus, also called "mandrels", are used to penetrate the tubing hanger of a wellhead, and to provide a pressure block.
Packers
Electrical Feedthrus are used with packers to provide a pressure block. Depending on the size of the packer, Crossover Adapters may be used to move the pressure block above or below the Packer.
Pods
When pods are used to enclose the ESP, electrical penetrators are required to provide pressure blocking.
